A Productive Day

After I finished my Withershadow Combine I ordered a Pistol Wraith to round out a decent 25 pt list to play with. In fact I have been going to game store here a fair bit lately and they seem like a good sort, a little strange but good none the less, so I've been thinking about joining their Monday Journeyman league. Anyway, I got my Pistol Wraith this afternoon and I finished it about an hour ago totalling about 3-4 hours all together.

My inspiration came from this post at Pain, Tin and Stuff here by Jani Hyvarinen, who I think did the effect much better than I did but I'm happy with my result anyway.

I tried to give ya a black background so that the white had more contrast but it almost seemed like it overdid it. The pictures definitely make it look like it's glowing on the highlights. You might not be able to tell but the eyes are glowing green and the only matching part to the rest of my army and of course he's unbased. But I like him, it's different from anything I'd ever done.

A few more models

I breezed through the Withershadow Combine without any trouble (which may or may not bite me in the ass when I look at them later down the road) and all things considered I think they turned out pretty well. I am a big fan of the models themselves which took very little effort to glue together and they are wonderful sculpts. I did not do any customization to them, not even the customary string in puppet-guy's marionette.

I know they aren't the best pictures but I don't really have much of a photobox anymore so they'll have to do. Besides, they're not exactly fabulous enough for one anyway. Still not based of course, just keeping that black for now.

I still haven't managed to take a good picture of the Deneghra that I redid (partly because I don't even like the sculpt, let alone my paintjob over the sculpt) but I did manage to catch an elusive Seether in the wild that I painted oh... about 8 months ago? Something like that.

Again, not great pictures but I think good enough to get the gist. Don't mind the dust on the base, it's not intentional and obviously I didn't mind it (only just saw it actually). Anyway, I'm a fan of the bone spikes on this one which were a royal pain to glue on but I'm glad I stuck with it. I remember it took me about 3 hours to get this one guys glued together, and about 2 hours and 45 minutes of that were the spikes.

Some Warmachine Miniatures

So while I don't play 40k anymore (nor do I play Warmachine for that matter, but at least I have the models) I am enjoying painting my Cryx models for what may or may not end up being an army. I think I'm up to... 30 pts? Maybe 35 pt, I'm not sure. I've gotten a fair bit done (two warcasters, a seether, a slayer, some bonechickens) but I think I'm most happy so far with the Bane Thralls I just finished.

 They're obviously not based, just like the rest of my army isn't, because I'm going to wait until either I start playing with them or when I have a lot of painted models (or more accurately until I decide on how to base them). I don't know if it's very noticeable in the pictures here but the two parts I'm most proud of is the corrosion on the bronze/copper plating and the glowing effects on the axe and eyes. Other than those two, everything else is pretty by the book.

And while I'm posting them I guess I might as well throw up some old pictures of my other miniatures so far in this army.

I've since changed Deneghra though because she looks so bland (just black and green bleh) but I haven't taken pictures since.

Next on my agenda is the Withershadow Combine, which I just got in the mail not too long ago but they're coming along quite nicely I think.

Playtime is over...

Well I got halfway done with a new Tactical Squad and a Stormraven but it's time for a project from Unclean Studios. I'm gonna start working on a Wolfwing army. New Chaplain

And I like him. I painted up the generic jump pack Chaplain today, didn't do any conversions or anything though. Not much to say, pretty straight forward. Enjoy!

The Great Zargo!

Yeah I hate the name too, he sounds like some kind of magical magic man or something. Oh well, GW says he's Zargo then he's Zargo. Oh wait, I should say who he is first... well Castellan Zargo is the chapter master for the Angels Encarmine chapter as of last codex. After much pondering and gluing my fingers together, I built a power sword wielding and infernus pistol fielding madman. With a jump pack. And the Mask of Zargo. (catchy isn't it?). In other words, this will be who I will use for my Dante when the idea suits me and a normal captain otherwise. I tried to give him a pose that said "Here I am, rock you like a hurricane!" as if he just landed and he's ready to go! I hope you guys enjoy him as he is my favourite model that I've painted thus far. Enjoy the pictures!

The cape was the most fun part of painting this guy as I learned a lot from it and the jewel on his chest came out pretty much perfect. As always, I'd love some comments and criticism as I still haven't sealed him yet. Come back for more goodness soon and thanks for reading!
