Well today is a tournament at my LGS for 1500pts. Now I personally have never been good at small games like that. Especially not with Blood Angels. But this list is deffinately different, it includes 3 Devastator squads (oh yes), Corbulo, and a 10man Death Company (as well as my troops: two 5man assault sqauds in rhinos and a 10man jump squad). The list started as my looking at the Devastator entry and thinking... "I wonder how much 3 Dev squads would cost" so I wrote it up and figured what the heck and threw in an HQ and some troops and a 10man Death Company.
I'm not really a big tournament player unless it's at my LGS ususally. I'm not an extremely good player at tournaments either. The best I've done my entire 40k life was last tournament (for 2500pt I believe) in which I took second (the size difference between first and second is mind-boggling here). And that may have been all from dumb luck, as the one before that I came in 35th place, but then it may have something to do with my army that I played.
It was hard for me to actually try to pick an army to play with for the 1500pt tournament. I have a nice little Tyranid army at around that and Tyranids seem to prefer small games as such. But on the other hand my Blood Angels have been good for me in the past. I decided to go with what (in my opinion) was the best choice of the army I know. In a tournament you need to bring an army you know front to back, all their weaknesses and strengths, all their bells and whistles. I have come to the conclusion that in a tournament the best option for an army is to pick the one you're experienced with, if you have access to multiple armies, like most of us that are addicted do.
Wish me good luck, and stay tuned

My First Post
Well first's time's a charm, eh?
Let be begin with myself here. I am a relatively new gamer, only beginning 40k 3 years ago and am currently starting fantasy. I have read many things and have actually been called a "Rules Lawyer" for some unknown (yet oddly flattering) reason as far as 40k goes. I am a big "fluff-guru" also and I try to play the game more by the background than the rules (of course I use the rules, but I base my "tactics" more on background than winning). I have read all the rulebooks and codexes (almost) from 2nd edition to now.
My main army is Kroot Mercenaries. Now I do not currently play Kroot anymore but they will still always be my main army. In 4th edition in the full year I used them I believe I lost 5 times (and I played about 5-6 games a week) and then 5th edition rolled in and I got tabled my first 5 games. The rules just did not allow them to play anymore. I currently play mostly Iron Angels (now am at about 10,000 points) which is a Blood Angel successor. I have always had a space marine army and it's always my secondary army. It's my "home base" if you will. Its the army I can never stop playing but dislike it all the same. It is still being painted (maybe in 4 years or so it'll actually get finished).
I also have a small Tyranid army that will very soon grow in rank to my primary army (which is of course different from a main army). It is themed around my grasp of Tyranids. When a hive fleet is about to invade a planet they send spores in advance which turbo-chargesd the plant life and such before they get there. And using Earth as an example, which is very largely plant life, most planets would be about 95% plant life that gets eaten. And so why aren't the Tyranids green and brown and do photosynthesis? Well mine are (except the photosynthesis part, because then they wouldn't be eating everyone's head off).
I also have quite a few other projects as well that will unfold as I get interest in them.
Stay tuned, and thanks for reading.
