Tournament at the Guild

Today was a tournament at my local game store. It was 40k and 2000pts. I decided to enter it about a half hour before it started with my Blood Angels, an army that rarely gets pulled out but strangely is my biggest one sitting at 10,000 points. I went in the tournament not really wanting to win but have fun. Throw in a few things that I never get to use such as terminators and Mephiston. So I made my list that morning and my first opponent was Imp Guard, who I massacred. My second opponent was a friend of mine who is a professional painter (the main operator of Stiff Neck Studios) who happened to have a Nidzilla tyranid list with him. He's a great gamer and really played a great game. For the first 3 or 4 turns we agreed that I had the game in the bag but then Mephiston turned on me and whiffed, then died and my army just rolled nothing but ones from that point on, and he ended up getting a minor victory. My last opponent had a Genestealer army that I ended up beating him into submission on turn 4.

I ended up coming in 2nd and my second opponent came in first (the other two people above us had to play each other and ended up drawing the game, putting them under us). Not too bad for not planning on winning at all in my opinion. I did learn something interesting though, apparently psykers can have a Feel No Pain roll against a Perils of the Warp... makes no sense but it's there.

New Goblins

I went out and bought a new box of Night Goblins, which I'm going to try something new with, and thats painting them on the sprue (something I've never done before). It's amazing how they fit 20 guys into 2 sprues...

Anyway a picture of the primed sprues:

I primed it white because I plan on dipping them. I'll update ya after the base coat

Iron Warriors Vindicator

I found a vindicator I had tried to paint a while ago in my game room and decided to show you guys a better idea of my paint scheme. While taking the pictures though I realized that it wasn't finished, but it has a lot on it. I'll most likely finish it sometime soon though. The havoc launcher is magnetized and all those bells and whistles. Anyway the pictures.

More sneaky gits

I finished painting my goblins last night, using a new style like I had said in a previous post. I had limited myself to 6 colours when painting them in order to keep it quick, then I dipped them in a wood stain, shot them with a matte varnish and ta-da! This is my only non-night goblin unit in my army at the moment too, haven't decided whether to stay with a night goblin theme or to just go with a short WAAAGH (get it? short? goblins? HAHAHA) of just all kinds of goblins, including red gobbos, and hobgoblins, and even albino goblins.

Anyway on to the pitures! Enjoy.

Of course they are not based in the snow, but I think I'll do that to the whole army once it's done. Comments and criticism welcome. Thanks for reading.

New Defiler

I started working on my second Defiler today. I found a Defiler in a box that was already put together (probably from Death Guard) so I did what any gamer would do... I broke it into a lot of small pieces with a screwdriver, a hacksaw, and an X-acto knife. I started to look at some conversions of Defilers again and as well as a lot of bipedal Defilers, I came to a blog from Lemmingspawn on the Dakka Dakka forums of a spider variant (see it here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/90/189538.page). So I used my saw and knife and glue and got this:

As you can see its a close combat Defiler (can't beat 4 dreadnough close combat weapons). I don't quite know where I'm going to place the cannon yet but this is the basis of it. Any comments or suggestions are always welcome. Thanks for reading.

Warsmith done

My very first model in my Iron Warriors army is done, and who better to be the first than the Warsmith! I got him equipped with a Deamon weapon (the thunder hammer) and a combi-melta, and I was considering making him some artificer armour as terminator armour but decided against it (thats the next one). Now without farther stalling for time, here he is:

The caution stripes suck but I think the rest turned out pretty well.
